Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner Inspects Development Projects in South Zone

Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner M Sivaguru Prabhakaran IAS conducted an inspection of various development projects in the South Zone on August 29, 2024, focusing on infrastructure improvements and public welfare initiatives.


Coimbatore: Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner M Sivaguru Prabhakaran IAS conducted a comprehensive inspection of ongoing development projects in the South Zone of Coimbatore Corporation on August 29, 2024.

The Commissioner began his inspection by reviewing the expansion work in Ward 89 of Kovaipudur. He then visited the newly constructed sub-health center in Ward 98's Bharat Puduvikki Road area, built at a cost of Rs. 30 lakhs from general funds.



The ongoing underground drainage works on the Palakkad Main Road in Kulathuppalayam, Ward 91, were also inspected.

In Kuniyamuthur, the Commissioner examined the progress of the Kurichi-Kuniyamuthur drinking water project and underground drainage scheme. This project involves laying pipes over the Palakkad railway line and under the Pollachi railway line, connecting to the Coimbatore Corporation's water supply system.

At the Urban Health Center in Ward 90 of Kovaipudur, Mr. Prabhakaran reviewed the treatment procedures and vaccinations provided to pregnant women and infants. He also checked the availability of medicines and tablets.



The Commissioner then inspected a newly constructed public toilet in the area and the distribution of drinking water to houses in Eachanari Ayappa Nagar, Ward 97, under the Pillur 3 drinking water scheme.



Earlier in the day, the Commissioner visited Ward 79 in the South Zone to assess the construction of a new stormwater drain near Anna Statue on Perur Main Road.



He also inspected the Sundakkamuthur pond in Ward 89 and the children's play park in the Government Employees Colony in Kuniyamuthur, Ward 88.

The inspection tour included a visit to the Coimbatore Corporation Primary School in Idayarpalayam, Ward 93. Here, the Commissioner interacted with students and discussed their curriculum.

Accompanying the Commissioner during these inspections were Deputy Mayor R. Vetri Selvan, Assistant Commissioner (General) Ilangovan, Assistant Engineer Kanagaraj, Council members Sivasakthi, Vasanthamani, Murugesan, Babu, Ilanchekaran, Senthilkumar, Udayakumar, Aslam Basha, Assistant Town Planning Officer Vijayalakshmi, Zonal Health Officer Andiappan, Assistant Engineer Sabariraj, and other Corporation officials.
