Suspected Leopard Sighting Near Udumalaipettai Sparks Fear Among Farmers

A mysterious animal, resembling a leopard, was captured on CCTV near Udumalaipettai, Tirupur district. The sighting has caused alarm among local farmers and residents, prompting calls for swift action from the forest department.

Tirupur: Farmers and residents near Udumalaipettai in Tirupur district are in a state of panic following the suspected sighting of a leopard-like animal in Ganapathi Palayam. The mysterious creature was captured on surveillance cameras, raising concerns about the safety of livestock and humans in the area.

Ganapathi Palayam, a village known for its agricultural lands and broiler chicken farms, is home to numerous farming families and migrant workers from northern states. The recent incident has disrupted the peaceful routine of this rural community.

Over the past few days, chickens have been mysteriously disappearing from a private farm in the area. Upon reviewing the surveillance footage, farm owners were shocked to discover images of a leopard-like animal pouncing on and carrying away chickens during nighttime hours.

Alarmed by this development, local residents have brought the video evidence to the attention of the forest department. They have requested officials to investigate whether the animal in question is indeed a leopard or another species.

Farmers in the region have expressed serious concerns about their safety, especially during nighttime agricultural activities such as irrigation. They have urged the forest department to take swift action to capture the animal using cages and relocate it to a forest area to prevent potential harm to humans and livestock.

The incident has highlighted the increasing instances of human-wildlife conflict in the region, as urban expansion encroaches upon natural habitats. Forest department officials are expected to conduct a thorough investigation and implement necessary measures to ensure the safety of both the local population and the wildlife.
