DMK Adi Dravidar Welfare Committee Pays Tribute to Freedom Fighter Ondiveeran and Former CM Karunanidhi in Pollachi

The DMK Adi Dravidar Welfare Committee in Pollachi commemorated freedom fighter Ondiveeran's death anniversary and paid homage to former Chief Minister Karunanidhi on August 20, 2023, highlighting their contributions to social justice.



Coimbatore: The Coimbatore South District DMK Adi Dravidar Welfare Committee organized an event in Pollachi to commemorate the death anniversary of freedom fighter Ondiveeran and pay tribute to former Chief Minister Kalaignar Karunanidhi. The event, held in front of the Pollachi Bus Stand, also recognized Karunanidhi's role in securing 3% internal reservation for Arunthathiyars.

Thippampatti Aruchamy, the State Joint Secretary of the Adi Dravidar Welfare Committee, presided over the function. Pollachi Municipal Chairperson Syamala Navaneetha Krishnan and DMK Town Secretary Navaneethakrishnan participated in the event, offering floral tributes to the portraits of Ondiveeran and Kalaignar Karunanidhi.



The ceremony saw the participation of various DMK and Congress party members, including State Executive Committee member M.K. Muthu, District Deputy Organizer Advocate Panchalingam, District Organizer Gnanasekaran, and event coordinator Vivek. The gathering paid their respects to the freedom fighter and the former Chief Minister, acknowledging their significant contributions to the state and the nation.

The event underscored the DMK's commitment to honoring historical figures and leaders who have played crucial roles in the struggle for independence and social justice. It also served as a reminder of Karunanidhi's efforts in implementing welfare measures for marginalized communities, particularly the Arunthathiyars.
