Congress Celebrates Rajiv Gandhi's 80th Birth Anniversary in Pollachi

Congress party members in Pollachi commemorated former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi's 80th birth anniversary by distributing sweets and taking a pledge at the bus stand on August 20, 2024.



Coimbatore: The Congress party celebrated the 80th birth anniversary of former Prime Minister late Rajiv Gandhi across the country, with Pollachi joining in the commemorations on Sunday.

In Pollachi, members of the Coimbatore South District Congress Committee gathered at the bus stand to mark the occasion. The event was led by Bhagavathi, the President of the Coimbatore South District Congress Committee.



The celebration began with party members paying floral tributes to a portrait of Rajiv Gandhi. Following this, they took a pledge, reaffirming their commitment to the party's ideals and Rajiv Gandhi's vision for the nation.

As part of the festivities, the Congress members distributed sweets to the public, sharing the joy of the occasion with local residents. The event saw participation from various party functionaries, including Senthil, the City Congress Committee President, along with other Congress and DMK party executives.

The commemoration in Pollachi was part of the nationwide celebrations organized by the Congress party to honor the legacy of Rajiv Gandhi, who served as India's Prime Minister from 1984 to 1989. The party used this occasion to reminisce about his contributions to the country and to reinforce their commitment to his ideals of progress and unity.
