Two Arrested with 100 Drug Pills Near Nava India in Coimbatore

Coimbatore police arrested two individuals near Nava India Road on August 18, seizing 100 drug pills. The suspects, identified as Vibhishan and Jai Hind, were caught during a routine patrol.


Coimbatore: In a significant drug bust, the Coimbatore police arrested two individuals near Nava India Road on Friday, August 18, seizing 100 drug pills from their possession. The arrests were made during a routine patrol by Sub-Inspector Arul Perumal of the Peelamedu Police Station.

Sub-Inspector Arul Perumal was patrolling the area near a bakery on Nava India Road when he noticed two suspicious individuals. Upon conducting a search, the police discovered 100 drug pills in their possession. The contraband was immediately seized, and both suspects were taken into custody.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Vibhishan (22) from Mahadevapuram, Kurinji Nagar in Perur, and Jai Hind (26) from Vinayagar Temple Street in Kalam Palayam. Investigations revealed that Vibhishan had completed his B.Sc. degree and was working in a private company. Jai Hind, who had studied up to the 10th standard, was employed as a loadman.

Following their arrest, both suspects were produced before the court and subsequently remanded to judicial custody. The Peelamedu police have registered a case and are conducting further investigations to uncover potential links to larger drug networks in the city.

This incident highlights the ongoing efforts of the Coimbatore police to curb drug-related activities in the city. Authorities have urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities related to drug trafficking or consumption in their neighborhoods.
