Massive Bison wandering in residential area frightens people of Coonoor

For the past couple of days, an adult bison has been threatening the residents of Chandra Colony, Carolina area, Coonoor, as this gigantic bison infiltrates the residential areas in search of fodder.

Though intermittent rains have bettered the greenery around the Nilgiris District, still scarcity for fodder and water prevails in the region. Hence, animals, especially bisons and elephants entering into residential colonies have become a common phenomenon these days.

'This adult bison is massive in size and has been roaming on the main road and at times enters the residential areas too. Public especially motorists are prone to accidents, as they apply sudden break or in a hurry turn the vehicle if, they encounter the bison on roads. Hence forest officials have to initiate steps to the chase the bison into deep forests before it causes any damage to the property and lives', said a resident of Carolina area.
