TNAU Invites Participants for Training on Value-Added Millet Products

Tamil Nadu Agricultural University offers training on value-added millet products, covering traditional foods, extrusion, bakery items, and ready-to-eat foods. The two-day program aims to educate participants about millet nutrients and processing techniques.


Coimbatore: The Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) in Coimbatore is set to conduct a training program on preparing value-added food products from millets on August 22 and 23, 2024.

The training will focus on various millet types such as ragi, pearl millet, sorghum, little millet, foxtail millet, and proso millet, which are increasingly being incorporated into people's diets. In urban areas, ragi is particularly popular. The program aims to educate participants about the nutritional benefits of millets and the techniques to create value-added products from them.

The training will cover a range of topics including traditional foods, extrusion processes, bakery products, and ready-to-eat foods. Interested individuals can participate by paying a fee of Rs. 1,770 (Rs. 1,500 + 18% GST) on the first day of training.

The training will be held at the Post Harvest Technology Centre, Agricultural Engineering College and Research Institute, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore-641 003. Participants can reach the venue via Bus Stop - Gate No. 7, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, via Maruthamalai Road, Coimbatore-641003.
