Coimbatore: The Arulmigu Mariamman Temple in Appanaickenpalayam, near Thudiyalur, Coimbatore, witnessed a grand celebration of the Thiruneeria Theenthazim Thirukuda Nanneerattu festival after a gap of 18 years. The festival, which began on the 9th with the installation of the auspicious pole, culminated in a spectacular event on the 19th.

The festival included a series of rituals and cultural events spread over several days. On the 17th, holy water pots were brought from the Sri Sithammaal Temple, followed by women and children from the entire village bringing sprouted grains. The evening featured Oyilattam dance performances.

On the 18th, various pujas were performed, including the sacred lamp worship, holy water worship, worship of the eldest Pillaiyar, and the Thirumangal worship. The day also saw the extraction of anthills, worship of sprouted grains, and the first fire ritual. The night concluded with the installation of the Vimana Kalasam and the application of medicinal paste.

The main event on the 19th began with auspicious music. The day's proceedings included the holy water bath for the parivara deities, the second fire ritual, the procession of holy water pots, and circumambulation of the temple. Under the guidance of Thirupperundiru Ramananda Kumara Guruparar Swamigal of the Siravai Adheenam, holy water from the pots was poured over the temple tower, marking the highlight of the Thirukuda Nanneerattu festival.

Following this, the main deities were bathed with holy water, and special pujas were performed. The Mariamman idol was then decorated, and abhishekam was conducted. The event concluded with annadanam (free food distribution) for all attendees.

Thousands of devotees from Appanaickenpalayam, Thudiyalur, Palanigounderputur, Pannimadai, and other surrounding villages participated in the festival, seeking the blessings of the goddess. The temple trustees and local community members made elaborate arrangements for the successful conduct of this grand celebration.
