Government Model School Student Goes Missing While Bathing in Amaravati River, Dharapuram

A 16-year-old student from Dharapuram's Government Model School went missing while bathing in the Amaravati River. Fire and Rescue Services personnel have been searching for two hours.



Coimbatore: A search operation is underway in Dharapuram, Tiruppur district, after a government model school student went missing while bathing in the Amaravati River. The incident occurred on Independence Day when a group of seven students went to the river to celebrate their holiday.

The missing student has been identified as Jeremiah, 16, son of Rajagopal. He was part of a group of seven students from Kundadam Model School who decided to take a swim under the Amaravati River bridge on the Dharapuram bypass road. The other students in the group were David, Asaph Samuel, Steve Daniel, Kalap, Devin Roger, and Nithish Kumar.



As the students were enjoying their swim, Jeremiah suddenly disappeared under the water. His friends immediately alerted the authorities. The Dharapuram Fire and Rescue Services team, led by a station officer, promptly arrived at the scene and launched a search operation. Despite their efforts, Jeremiah remains missing after two hours of intensive search.

The other six students were safely rescued from the river. The incident has caused significant concern and commotion at the Amaravati River bridge in Dharapuram, with locals gathering at the spot as rescue efforts continue.

Authorities are urging residents, especially students, to exercise caution near water bodies during holidays and to avoid swimming in rivers without proper safety measures.
