Coimbatore: District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati stressed the need for public cooperation in dengue prevention measures during a Gram Sabha meeting held today in Kittampalayam Panchayat, Sulur Union. The meeting, organized in view of Independence Day, took place near the Mahakaliyamman Temple in Vadugampalayam.
Addressing the gathering as a special guest, Collector Pati said, "Freedom fighters struggled not only for the country's independence but also for the progress of people's lives. Local bodies and Gram Sabha meetings were established to ensure a government for the people and by the people."
The Collector informed that action would be taken on the petitions submitted during the meeting by the concerned department heads. He further emphasized the increased risk of dengue fever during the rainy season and urged residents to take preventive measures.
"Water storage containers, bowls, and pots in homes should be kept fully covered. The public should cooperate with mosquito control workers. Biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste should be segregated before handing over to sanitation workers," Pati advised.
The Collector also commended the panchayat for generating solar power and obtaining the ISO certification for being a special panchayat.
The meeting saw active participation from local officials and residents, highlighting the importance of community involvement in addressing public health concerns and local governance issues.
