Flash Flood Disrupts Worship at Paalatrangarai Anjaneyar Temple Near Pollachi

Sudden flood at Paalatrangarai Anjaneyar Temple near Pollachi forces evacuation of devotees mid-worship. Heavy rains in Aliyar region cause flooding, submerging the temple's ground-level bridge.

Coimbatore: A sudden flash flood at the Paalatrangarai Anjaneyar Temple near Pollachi disrupted worship services and forced the evacuation of devotees on Wednesday morning. The temple, located at the foothills of the Western Ghats, is a popular destination for local worshippers.

The day began as usual with the temple doors opening and regular puja services being conducted for Lord Anjaneyar. Devotees had started arriving for darshan when the situation took an unexpected turn.

Heavy rains in the Aliyar region and surrounding areas the previous night led to a rapid increase in water levels. The ground-level bridge leading to the Paalatrangarai Anjaneyar Temple, which is situated in the middle of the river, was quickly submerged by the rising floodwaters.

As the water levels continued to rise, temple authorities acted swiftly to ensure the safety of the devotees. Those who were inside the temple for worship were urgently evacuated. The sudden nature of the evacuation caught many by surprise, as they were forced to leave in the middle of their prayers and rituals.

In response to the flooding, temple authorities have temporarily restricted access to the shrine. Devotees are currently not allowed to visit the temple for darshan until the flood situation improves and it is deemed safe for worship to resume.

Local officials are monitoring the situation closely, and further updates will be provided regarding the reopening of the temple for devotees. The incident serves as a reminder of the unpredictable nature of weather patterns in the region and the need for vigilance, especially for temples and other structures located near water bodies.
