S.P. Velumani, MLA of Coimbatore Thondamuthur, inspected the Ukkadam-Athupalam flyover inaugurated by the Chief Minister. He criticized the DMK government for opening projects brought by AIADMK to Coimbatore.
Coimbatore: S.P. Velumani, MLA of Coimbatore Thondamuthur constituency, inspected the Ukkadam-Athupalam flyover a day after its inauguration by the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister.
The visit was marked by a brief confrontation between AIADMK cadres and police when the former attempted to burst firecrackers in front of the bridge.
Velumani, accompanied by Coimbatore district AIADMK MLAs, toured the bridge by car and later addressed the media.
He stated, "Former Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami brought various projects to Coimbatore district. The Ukkadam-Athupalam flyover was announced in the assembly by former CM Jayalalithaa, responding to a 25-year-long demand of Coimbatore residents. Palaniswami allocated additional funds and supported the bridge construction. On behalf of Coimbatore people, I express gratitude to him."
The AIADMK leader pointed out that the bridge work is not yet fully complete and urged the government to expedite its completion. He claimed that the DMK government is inaugurating projects brought to Coimbatore by AIADMK. Velumani also called for the swift completion of Coimbatore Airport expansion works.
"Edappadi Palaniswami has given many unsolicited projects to Coimbatore district due to his affection for its people," Velumani added. He also requested the police to take necessary measures to prevent accidents on this new bridge.
