Coimbatore Corporation Sends Rescue Vehicles to Flood-Hit Wayanad

Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner M. Sivaguru Prabhakaran dispatched rescue vehicles and freezer boxes to Wayanad, Kerala, on July 30, 2024, to assist in natural disaster relief efforts.


Coimbatore: In response to the natural disaster in Wayanad district of Kerala, Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner M. Sivaguru Prabhakaran IAS flagged off rescue vehicles (Hitachi vehicles) and freezer boxes from the Corporation's South Zone office premises late night on July 30, 2024.

The relief materials were sent on behalf of the Coimbatore district to assist in the rescue operations in the flood-affected areas of Wayanad. The event was attended by several corporation officials and elected representatives.



Deputy Mayor R. Vetri Selvan, South Zone Committee Chairperson Dhanalakshmi, Deputy Commissioner K. Sivakumar, Chief City Engineer Anbazhagan, Assistant Commissioner Senthilkumaran, Executive Engineer Karuppasamy, Assistant Executive Engineer Ezhil, Assistant Engineer Sabari Raj, and Corporation Councilors Babu, Aslam Basha, Ilanchekaran, and Rajalakshmi were present during the dispatch of the rescue vehicles.



The timely response from the Coimbatore Corporation demonstrates the spirit of inter-state cooperation in times of crisis. The sent equipment is expected to significantly aid the ongoing rescue and relief efforts in the flood-ravaged areas of Wayanad.
