Where is Annamalai who promised to get schemes from Modi over a phone call? Singai Ramachandran lashes against budget

AIADMK IT Wing Chief Singai Ramachandran criticizes BJP State President Annamalai's unfulfilled promises for Coimbatore and highlights the Union Budget's lack of benefits for the city's development.

Coimbatore: AIADMK IT Wing Chief Singai Ramachandran held a press conference today, questioning BJP State President Annamalai's unfulfilled promises for Coimbatore's development. Ramachandran criticized the recent Union Budget, stating it failed to address Coimbatore's growth needs.

"Annamalai claimed he could secure necessary projects for Coimbatore with just one phone call to Modi. However, the central budget does not reflect any significant allocation for Coimbatore's development," Ramachandran said. He pointed out that Annamalai's 'My Dream Our Coimbatore' project remains unrealized.

Ramachandran highlighted the reduction of tax for foreign companies from 40% to 35%, questioning its benefit to Coimbatore-based industries. He also criticized Annamalai's lack of effort in securing the Coimbatore Metro project. "When questioned, they claim they weren't given MPs. This shows their narrow-mindedness," he added.

Addressing Annamalai's comments on AIADMK's decline, Ramachandran countered, "In 21 out of 39 constituencies where BJP alliance contested, they couldn't even save their deposits. Annamalai himself received 1/2 percent fewer votes than C.P. Radhakrishnan. He's not qualified to comment on AIADMK."

Ramachandran also alleged that a businessman had informed him of being threatened to provide funds to Annamalai, asserting that such individuals cannot work for the welfare of Coimbatore's people.

The AIADMK leader criticized both DMK and BJP for their policies affecting small and medium enterprises. He pointed out the negative impact of GST and the state government's electricity tariff hike on local businesses, leading to closures and job losses.

Questioning Annamalai's influence, Ramachandran asked, "Couldn't Annamalai, who brought the Prime Minister to Coimbatore, secure even one project? What happened to the hotline to the Prime Minister? Did it run out of recharge?"

Ramachandran also commented on the issuance of a coin honoring Kalaignar with central government approval, contrasting it with the lack of action on Annamalai's 'DMK Files' submitted to the Governor. He suggested this indicates a connection between DMK and BJP.

Criticizing the DMK government's handling of the Vellalore dump yard fire, Ramachandran sarcastically remarked, "It seems they extinguished the fire with tea!" He added that this exemplifies DMK's "scientific corruption."

Ramachandran concluded by highlighting the plight of the common people due to various price hikes, including milk, electricity, and water taxes, emphasizing that out of 2.47 crore electricity connections, 1 crore people use less than 100 units, indicating their poverty.
