Over 500 students participated in a awareness rally in Udumalpet, Tiruppur district, to commemorate International Tiger Day. The event featured students in tiger costumes, dancing and singing to raise public awareness about tiger conservation.

Coimbatore: In a colorful display of wildlife conservation awareness, more than 500 school students took to the streets of Udumalpet in Tiruppur district to mark International Tiger Day. The rally, which began at the Netaji Sports Ground, saw enthusiastic participation from both government and private school students.

Tiruppur District Forest Officer Devendra Kumar Meena flagged off the rally, emphasizing the importance of tiger conservation in his address to the participants. The procession wound its way through key areas of the town, including Rajendra Road, the new bus stand, the old bus stand, and Thali Road, before concluding at the Udumalpet Forest Range Office.

The highlight of the event was the students' creative approach to spreading awareness. Many participants donned tiger costumes and masks, dancing and singing as they marched through the streets. Others carried banners and placards with messages about the significance of protecting tigers and their habitats.

Udumalpet Forest Ranger Manikandan joined the rally, which drew attention from local residents and passersby. The event not only served as an educational initiative but also as a vibrant celebration of wildlife conservation efforts. The students' enthusiasm and the public's positive response underscored the community's growing commitment to protecting endangered species like tigers.

The rally's success in Udumalpet reflects a broader trend of increasing environmental consciousness among young people and highlights the role of education in fostering a sense of responsibility towards wildlife conservation.
