DMK Protests in Tirupur Against Tamil Nadu's Neglect in Union Budget

Over 1000 DMK members staged a protest in Tirupur against the alleged neglect of Tamil Nadu in the Union Budget. The demonstration took place in front of the Kumaran statue, led by Pollachi MP K. Eswaran.

Tirupur: The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) conducted a massive protest in Tirupur, condemning the alleged neglect of Tamil Nadu in the Union Budget. More than 1000 party members participated in the demonstration held in front of the Kumaran statue.

The protest was led by Pollachi Member of Parliament K. Eswaran and saw the participation of notable figures including South Constituency MLA Selvaraj and Tirupur Corporation Mayor Dinesh Kumar. Demonstrators raised slogans against the central government, accusing it of completely sidelining Tamil Nadu in the Union Budget.

Protesters alleged that despite Tamil Nadu contributing significantly to the Goods and Services Tax (GST) revenue, the central government has been refusing to allocate appropriate funds to the state. They pointed out that no funds were allocated this year for the AIIMS hospital project in Madurai, and no new railway projects were announced for Tamil Nadu.

The DMK members criticized the Union Budget, stating that it failed to address Tamil Nadu's needs and ignored the state's interests entirely. The large turnout of over 1000 participants underscored the intensity of the protest and the widespread discontent among the party members regarding the perceived neglect of Tamil Nadu in the national budget.
