Woman Stages Dharna with Children at Pollachi Sub-Registrar Office Over Husband's Alleged Property Sale

A woman in Pollachi staged a dharna with her children at the Sub-Registrar's office, claiming her husband sold their property without her knowledge, demanding cancellation of the sale deed.

Coimbatore: A woman named Sathyavani staged a dharna with her two children at the Pollachi Sub-Registrar's office on Monday, alleging that her husband Suresh had sold their property without her knowledge.

Sathyavani and Suresh, residents of R Ponnapuram village in Pollachi, have been experiencing marital discord recently. On May 9, Sathyavani had submitted a petition to the Sub-Registrar's office to prevent the sale of their house, which her husband had been attempting to sell. However, she claims that the Sub-Registrar did not investigate her petition and instead registered the property sale to another person on May 12, favoring her husband.

Upon learning about the property sale, Sathyavani, along with her two sons, initiated a dharna protest at the Sub-Registrar's office. She demanded the cancellation of the property sale deed. In response to her protest, the Sub-Registrar ordered Suresh to bring the original sale deed for review.

The Sub-Registrar assured Sathyavani that the matter would be reported to higher authorities for an appropriate resolution. Following this assurance, Sathyavani ended her dharna and left the premises.

The incident has highlighted the importance of spousal consent in property transactions and the need for thorough investigation of petitions filed in such cases.
