Police arrested a Bihar native near Kempanaickenpalayam on July 23 for possessing 1.1 kg of ganja intended for sale. The suspect was caught during a vehicle check and subsequently remanded to judicial custody.
Coimbatore: In a crackdown on drug trafficking, the Annur police arrested a man from Bihar for possessing cannabis near Kempanaickenpalayam on Tuesday, July 23.
The police were conducting a routine vehicle check near Kempanaickenpalayam when they apprehended the suspect. The accused has been identified as Ravishankar Chaudhry (35), son of Mahadev Chaudhry from Bihar.
Upon searching, the police discovered 1 kilogram and 100 grams of ganja in Ravishankar's possession. The contraband was reportedly kept for sale in the area. The police immediately seized the narcotic substance and took the suspect into custody.
Following the arrest, Ravishankar Chaudhry was produced before the local magistrate. After the legal proceedings, he was remanded to judicial custody.
