Coimbatore: The Anamalai Regulated Market conducted its bi-weekly copra auction on Tuesday, July 23. The market, which regularly holds copra auctions every Tuesday and Thursday, saw active participation from traders and farmers.
According to Senthilmurugan, the supervisor of the Anamalai Regulated Market, the auction saw a total of 432 bags of copra being sold. The first-grade copra, comprising 162 bags, fetched prices ranging from Rs.87.69 to Rs.92.59 per kilogram. The second-grade copra, totaling 270 bags, was sold at prices between Rs.43.43 and Rs.81.21 per kilogram.
The total quantity of copra auctioned was 194.40 quintals. Senthilmurugan reported that the overall value of the copra sold at the auction amounted to Rs.13.996 lakhs. This successful auction demonstrates the continued importance of the Anamalai Regulated Market in facilitating fair trade practices for copra in the region.
