Coimbatore: The Indigenous Horse Society (IHS) - Tamil Nadu is set to organize the world's first Polo Premier League and India's first Equestrian Champions League in Coimbatore this November. The official announcement and logo launch event for these competitions took place today (20.07.24) at a private hotel on Avinashi Road, Coimbatore. The event was presided over by Balaji, the state president of IHS - Tamil Nadu.

The special guests at the event included Coimbatore City Police Commissioner Balakrishnan, 'Expo Ven' Group Chairman Mahendran, actor Prashanth, SNR Sons Charitable Trust Joint Managing Trustee Sundar, Emerald Group Director Nishta Sri Srinivasan, IHS South India Convenor Navaneeth Raj, and Park Educational Group CEO Anusha Ravi. These dignitaries unveiled the logos for the two competitions scheduled for November.
The competitions are set to take place from November 20 to 30 at a venue in Vellanaipatty Panchayat, Sarkkarasamakulam area, Coimbatore district. The Polo Premier League, a first-of-its-kind event modeled after IPL/TNPL, will feature six teams representing major cities of Tamil Nadu: Kovai Canter Kings (Coimbatore), Salem Saddle Soldiers, Madurai Mallet Magicians, Horseplay Soldiers Nellai (Tirunelveli), Trichy Turf Torpedoes, and Chennai Champions.

The Equestrian Champions League will see participation from 12 teams and is slated to be a national-level event. The organizers have announced that both events will be conducted to international standards, with an expert panel of judges to evaluate the competitions. Substantial prize money has been announced for the winners of both leagues.
IHS organizers have also revealed plans for widespread coverage of these events. Spectators and the general public will have the opportunity to watch the competitions live, while arrangements are being made for broadcasts on popular sports television channels, OTT platforms, and radio.
