Van runs over Class 1 student in Coimbatore: Shocking CCTV footage emerges

Coimbatore: In a shocking incident, a Class 1 student from Venkatalakshmi Private School in Singanallur, Coimbatore, was run over by a school van on Monday. The accident, which was captured on CCTV cameras, has sent shockwaves through the community.

Preliminary investigations reveal that the accident occurred due to the driver's negligence. The CCTV footage shows the van running over the child's abdomen and then moving off. The injured child is currently receiving treatment at a private hospital.

The victim is one of two sons of Shanmugam, a resident of Irugur area, who attend the private school. The accident happened when the driver started the van before the Class 1 student had fully disembarked. As a result, the child fell under the moving vehicle's wheels.

Immediately after the accident, bystanders rushed the boy to a nearby private hospital for emergency treatment. The Kattur Traffic Police have launched an investigation into the incident.

This unfortunate event has raised serious concerns about the safety measures in place for school children during transportation. Parents and local residents are demanding stricter regulations and better training for school van drivers to prevent such incidents in the future.
