Self-Defense Club Inaugurated at PSGR Krishnammal College for Women in Coimbatore

A Self-Defense Club was launched at PSGR Krishnammal College for Women in Coimbatore on July 16, 2024. The event aimed to promote awareness and skills for personal safety among female students.


Coimbatore: The PSGR Krishnammal College for Women in Ward 26 of Coimbatore Corporation witnessed the inauguration of a Self-Defense Club for college students on Tuesday, July 16, 2024. The event was presided over by Dr. Jaya Chitra, the club coordinator and a professor at the institution.

Dr. Boopathi MBBS MPH, the City Health Officer of Coimbatore Corporation, officially launched the club and delivered a special address, emphasizing the importance of self-defense skills for young women.



The inauguration ceremony saw the participation of several notable figures. Chitra Velliangiri, the Ward 26 Councillor of Coimbatore Corporation, graced the occasion with her presence. Assistant Physical Education Teacher Mrs. Surya and S.P. Velliangiri also attended the event, contributing to its success.



During the program, the guests delivered awareness speeches to the students, highlighting various aspects of personal safety and the significance of self-defense techniques in today's world. The inauguration of the Self-Defense Club marks a significant step towards empowering female students with essential skills for their protection and overall well-being.

The event concluded successfully, setting the stage for future activities and training sessions under the newly formed Self-Defense Club at PSGR Krishnammal College for Women.
