Man arrested for ganja possession in Madukkarai, Coimbatore

On July 5, police arrested a 25-year-old man in Madukkarai, Coimbatore, for possessing 1.1 kg of ganja intended for sale. The arrest was made following a tip-off and subsequent raid.


Coimbatore: In a continued effort to curb the circulation of narcotics in Coimbatore district, police have arrested a man for possessing ganja intended for sale in Madukkarai area.

On July 5, the special task force of the police received confidential information about cannabis being brought for sale in the Madukkarai police station limits. Acting on this tip-off, the special task force conducted a raid in the Madukkarai area.

During the operation, the police apprehended 25-year-old Eswaran, a resident of Madukkarai, who was found in possession of ganja for sale. The officers seized 1 kilogram and 100 grams of ganja from the accused.

This arrest is part of the police department's ongoing efforts to control the circulation of narcotics, including ganja, in Coimbatore district. The authorities have been taking various measures to combat drug-related activities in the region.

The arrest of Eswaran and the seizure of a significant quantity of ganja highlight the persistent challenges faced by law enforcement in tackling drug-related crimes. It also underscores the importance of community cooperation in providing crucial information to the police to combat such illegal activities.
