Thousands of Devotees Attend Kumbabishekam at Kadaiyur Kadaiyeswarar Temple in Kangeyam

The Kumbabishekam of Sri Kadaiyeswarar Temple in Kadaiyur, Kangeyam, Tiruppur district, drew lakhs of devotees. The event included rituals for multiple deities and elaborate security arrangements.


Coimbatore: The Sri Kadaiyeswarar Temple in Kadaiyur, Kangeyam, Tiruppur district, witnessed a grand Kumbabishekam ceremony today, attracting lakhs of devotees and members of the public. The temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, also houses shrines for Sri Vinayagar, Sri Pangasatchi Ambigai, Sri Vellaiamman, and Sri Karunagara Perumal.

The Kumbabishekam rituals began with the establishment of yagasalais (sacrificial altars) in the temple premises. Vedic mantras were chanted, and special homams were performed for the sacred water-filled kalasams. The main event of the Kumbabishekam took place during the auspicious Simha lagna (Leo ascendant).



Devotees thronged the temple to receive blessings from Sri Vinayagar, Sri Pangasatchi Ambigai, Sri Kadaiyeswarar, Sri Vellaiamman, and Sri Karunagara Perumal with Sridevi and Bhudevi. The faithful sought the four-fold benefits of dharma, artha, kama, and moksha (righteousness, wealth, pleasure, and liberation).

The temple festival committee arranged for food distribution to all attendees. To ensure smooth conduct of the event, elaborate security measures were implemented. Kangeyam Deputy Superintendent of Police Parthiban and Inspector Vivekanandan led a team of over 300 police personnel and village guards to maintain order and safety during the ceremony.

The Kumbabishekam, a significant ritual in Hindu temples, involves the consecration of the main deity and other idols. This event at the Kadaiyur Kadaiyeswarar Temple marks an important milestone in the religious calendar of the region, bringing together thousands of devotees in a display of faith and tradition.
