A section of residents have put up banners at Sultanpet area under Palladam Assembly constituency limits on Sunday stating they would boycott the polls.
According to the residents, they have been staging agitations to remove a bar attached to a restaurant that was recently set up on a recreation club premises.
“Each time we staged protests, the authorities gave assurance to remove the bar. The promises were never implemented when the agitation was called off”, they alleged. The residents of the hamlet had decided that they will not go to the polling booths if the bar was not shifted from the locality.
