On July 3, District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati inspected the beneficiaries and site selection of Kalaignar's Dream Home project in Peedampalli, Sulur taluk, Coimbatore.

Coimbatore:

In a dedicated effort to enhance living standards, District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati visited Peedampalli in Sulur taluk on July 3 to oversee the selection process for the beneficiaries of the Kalaignar's Dream Home project. This initiative aims to provide secure concrete homes to the rural poor, replacing fragile makeshift settlements.

The project, announced by Makkaludan Mudhalvar, plans to construct and distribute one lakh homes by the year 2024-25. These houses are intended to offer a permanent solution to those living in dilapidated dwellings or without ownership despite having legal land rights. Each house, spanning 360 square feet, will include a bedroom, kitchen, and toilet, costing approximately Rs. 3.50 lakhs.

During his field visit, Pati meticulously reviewed the progress and emphasized the need for adequate and timely completion of these constructions. Prior to this, he inspected ongoing works at the SIS Colony railway overpass and directed a rapid completion within two months or face stringent actions against the contractor.

Following the initial inspections, it has been reported that 16 individuals from the Sulur region have been selected under this scheme, which includes residents from Peedampalli and three from the surrounding urban areas. The program targets those identified as economically vulnerable, aiming to significantly improve their living conditions through the Rural Development Authority's initiatives.
