Digi Yatra App to Be Operational Soon at Coimbatore Airport

The Digi Yatra facility, aimed to streamline airport processes and reduce paper use, is set to become operational at Coimbatore Airport as announced by airport director Senthilvalavan.

Coimbatore: In a significant development for passengers utilizing Coimbatore Airport, the Ministry of Civil Aviation's initiative, the Digi Yatra facility, which is aimed at digitalizing and facilitating smoother airport processes, is scheduled to commence operations soon. This initiative was initially supposed to begin in April but faced continuous delays, now entering a trial phase.

According to airport director Senthilvalavan, Digi Yatra is designed to enhance the airport experience by minimizing the time passengers spend in queues for boarding passes and other procedures. The passengers will need to download the Digi Yatra app, after which they should register their mobile number along with other details like Aadhaar and photograph for a boarding pass. Scanning the pass will generate a QR code, which can then be used at a dedicated digital kiosk in the airport layout for quick access.

The initiative links all required documents to the mobile phone, ensuring all documents are accessible in one place for travelers. With the trial run currently underway, the full-scale implementation aims to reduce paper usage and expedite the travel process, contributing significantly to environmental sustainability and operational efficiency.
