Air Horns Seized from 10 Buses in Gandhipuram by Coimbatore City Police

On Friday, Coimbatore City Police conducted checks on buses at Gandhipuram, seizing air horns from 10 vehicles following public complaints about noise.


Coimbatore: In a substantial move to curb noise pollution, the Coimbatore City Police conducted a thorough inspection of private and government buses at Gandhipuram on Friday. The operation led by Kattoor Inspector A. Dowlathnisha and Traffic Sub-Inspector Karthik aimed to crack down on the excessive use of air horns which have been a major source of nuisance as reported by city residents.

During the surprise checks, 10 buses were found to be equipped with illegal air horns. "Based on several complaints regarding the rampant use of air horns, we deployed our team for a surprise inspection. 10 buses were identified using these horns excessively. We have registered cases pertaining to this issue and seized the air horns," explained Inspector Dowlathnisha.

The proactive steps taken by the police demonstrate their commitment to enforcing traffic regulations and ensuring public peace. The drive to remove air horns is part of an ongoing effort and will continue in the forthcoming days to cover more areas within the city.
