Coimbatore: In a significant development aimed at enhancing urban infrastructure within the city, Mayor Kalpana Anandakumar has officially inaugurated a suite of new street lighting installations in Ward No. 68. The event took place on Cross Cut Road, located in the bustling region of Gandhi Puram. This initiative involves the placement of 42 street light poles, each equipped with two light fixtures, totalling 84 lights, at a project cost estimated at Rs. 75.50 lakhs sourced from the municipal corporation’s public fund.

This development is part of a broader effort by the local government to improve visibility and safety in key urban areas, especially amid growing concerns over street safety during nighttime. Also in attendance were Assistant Commissioner Senthilkumaran, Assistant Engineer Hemalatha, city council member Mrs. Kamalavathi Bose, and Assistant Engineer Nataraj, all of whom contributed to the project’s completion.

The event marks a significant step forward in Coimbatore’s ongoing efforts to enhance its public infrastructure to better serve its citizens and create a more vibrant, safer community environment.
