822 Bottles of Illicit Liquor Seized in Pollachi, Three Arrested

In Pollachi, near C. Gopalapuram, Prohibition Enforcement Wing confiscated 822 bottles of illegal out-of-state liquor and arrested three individuals during a vehicle checkpoint operation.


Coimbatore: In a significant crackdown on illegal liquor trafficking, the Prohibition Enforcement Wing in Pollachi seized 822 bottles of out-of-state liquor during a vehicle inspection near C. Gopalapuram. The officials, led by Inspector Selvam, intercepted a suspicious pickup vehicle and found the illicit bottles.




The province-wide stringent monitoring of alcohol sales has escalated following a tragic incident in Kallakurichi where 54 people died due to illicit alcohol consumption. Tamil Nadu government has been determined to curb narcotic trades across districts. The confiscated liquor bottles were found in the possession of the three arrested individuals, Senthilkumar, Vigneshprabhu, and Anandkumar, who have been remanded to custody and awaiting trial.
