"Not many of us are aware of the fact that for the development of our city in the year 2017-2018 Rs. 200 crores is to be spent for the Coimbatore Smart City, they said in a Facebook post.
A member of the Namathu Kovai group, a group of like-minded socially responsible citizens from various walks of life from Coimbatore shared the overview of the budget proposed for 2017-18.
- 2 crore is allocated for Smart waste management.
- 11 lakhs has been allocated for City Sense and Air Quality Monitoring IOT Device.
- 10 lakhs has been allocated for smart citizen mobile App.
- 15 crores has been allocated for upkeep of our Lakes.
- 50 crores has been allocated for Non-Motorized roads.
- 38 crore for Bi-Cycle Sharing.
- 30 crores has been allocated for smart schools.
- 15 crores has been allocated for IOT dust bins.
- 25 crores has been allocated for Command and Control Centre.
- 6 crores has been allocated for developing green space inside the city.
- 25 lakhs has been allocated for smart street Benches with USB charging facilities.
- 25 crore has been allocated for developing DB road as model road.
- 6 crore 65 lakhs has been allocated for VOC Park and ZOO.
We are told that these projects, if implemented effectively, will revolutionize Coimbatore as a city just in a year.
