Tamilaga Vettrik Kazhagam to Not Contest in Vikravandi By-Election

Tamilaga Vettrik Kazhagam has decided not to contest in the upcoming Vikravandi by-election as announced by its General Secretary Anand. No support will be extended to any party for this election.


Coimbatore: In a recent announcement, Anand, General Secretary of Tamilaga Vettrik Kazhagam, confirmed that the party will not contest in the Vikravandi by-election scheduled for July 10. This decision reflects the statement made by Thalapathy Vijay, the party leader, on February 2 during the party's inaugural announcement. Thalapathy Vijay had then elaborated on the political stance of the Tamilaga Vettrik Kazhagam, emphasizing their commitment to work for the 2026 general assembly election.

The party leader has also reiterated that establishing strong party policies, organizational frameworks, and interacting with the populace through extensive tours across Tamil Nadu are the main focuses up to the 2026 assembly elections. Consequently, Tamilaga Vettrik Kazhagam is set to skip all interim elections including local body elections.
