Vishva Hindu Parishad Submits Petition Against Public Slaughter of Cattle Ahead of Bakrid

Vishva Hindu Parishad submitted a petition to the Coimbatore District Collector's office seeking to prevent public slaughter of cattle ahead of Bakrid, especially mentioning locations like Selvapuram and Ukkadam Aathupalam.

Coimbatore: Ahead of the upcoming Bakrid festival, the Vishva Hindu Parishad has submitted a significant petition to the Collector's office in Coimbatore.

The petition demands actions to prevent the public slaughter of cattle, a practice observed in past years in areas such as Selvapuram and Ukkadam Aathupalam where cattle meant for slaughter have been tied in public spaces.

The petition highlights that in previous years, despite the presence of government-authorized slaughterhouses, cattle slaughtering for meat has continued illegally in public places, failing to comply with the regulations which stipulate the use of certified slaughterhouses and adherence to legal guidelines, including health certifications by veterinary doctors.

Thus, the Vishva Hindu Parishad, on behalf of its cow protection wing, has urged the authorities and police to take preemptive actions this year to ensure these practices are not repeated, promoting adherence to legal mandates and safeguarding public order and animal welfare.
