Instead of whining and pointing fingers at the officials for snail pace work at the wards, a group of volunteers of Ward No:27, Chinnavedampatti, thought differently and derived at an initiative called 'Namadhu Wardum Namadhu Veedae' .
As the very name describes, each resident of the ward should take up the responsibility of enhancing their ward by engaging themselves in socially responsible activities and ensuring a cleaner and safer environment to the future generation, is what the initiative aims at.

Residents of Ward No:27 who are part of this initiative spend an hour every week to devise plans for their ward's betterment. 'A group called ' Samudhaya Marumalarchi Ani' will be formed by pooling all volunteers and like-minded residents of their ward who are willing to contribute their time and will towards betterment of their ward' shared a volunteer.
Hundreds of saplings have been planted by the volunteers in several locations of their ward. Most importantly, all the saplings are personally taken care by the residents on a daily basis. The team also plans to educate the residents on waste management and segregation of wastes at source.

This weekend, on 9th April, the team of Volunteers cleaned the entire compound of the Government primary school at their ward and cleared all dried shrubs and wastes.
Children and senior citizens also took part with zest in planting saplings (native) at places as they wish. Every weekend a special guest from the government or private establishments are invited to the ward for implementing new projects.
