Siruthuli Celebrates 21st Anniversary and Valedictory of 'Thuli Thuliyai Siruthuliyai' Project

Siruthuli marks its 21st anniversary with the completion of "Thuli Thuliyai Siruthuliyai" project at Hindusthan College Auditorium, Coimbatore, enhancing sustainable water usage and ecosystem revitalization.


Coimbatore: Siruthuli, a prominent environmental organization, celebrated its 21st anniversary with the valedictory of the impactful water conservation project "Thuli Thuliyai Siruthuliyai" on June 13, 2024, at Hindusthan College Auditorium in Nava India, Coimbatore.



The event served as a testament to Siruthuli’s relentless dedication to environmental stewardship, showcasing their significant contributions over the last two decades.

Since its inception, Siruthulli has successfully rejuvenated 17 lakes, 20 ponds, 7 percolation ponds, and 10 check dams, thereby augmenting the water storage capacity by over 20,000 million litres. Furthermore, they have planted more than 8 lakh saplings across diverse areas in Coimtaroe, heavily promoting the region's ecological balance and forestry.

The evening was marked by inspiring speeches and acknowledgments from well-known figures in sustainability. Dr S V Balasubramaniam, the chairman of Siruthuli, inaugurated the function with a welcoming speech, while Managing Trustee Vanitha Mohan highlighted significant future initiatives like Project Nalla Thanni, aimed at ensuring clean water in all the city's water bodies.

Distinguished guests for the event included S. Muthusamy, Minister for Housing & Development, Prohibition & Excise; M.P. Saminathan, Minister for Tamil Development, Information & Publicity; and Dr. T.R.B. Rajaa, Minister for Industries. Their speeches emphasized the critical role of community participation in sustaining environmental efforts. P. P. Subramaniam, a member of the Steering Committee of Siruthuli, delivered the vote of thanks, concluding the memorable event.

The milestone celebration not only reflected on the achievements made but also set a firm ground for future endeavors aimed at furthering sustainable development in Coimbatore.
