Lone Wild Elephant Damages More Than Five Homes in Nallurvayal Village

A lone wild elephant caused extensive damage to over five homes in Nallurvayal village, near Karunya, Coimbatore, on the night of June 6. This incident has led to significant unrest in the area.


Coimbatore: The Western Ghats are home to various wildlife species, which often wander into nearby villages during the night seeking food and water. In a recent incident on the night of June 6, a lone wild elephant wreaked havoc in Nallurvayal village, located near Karunya in Coimbatore district, by damaging more than five homes.



This unusual activity caused considerable disturbance among the residents, triggering panic and chaos throughout the night. Following the incident, the local community quickly informed the forest department about the elephant's intrusion. The forest personnel promptly responded and managed to drive the wild elephant back into the dense forest, ensuring the safety of villagers and mitigating further damage.



The forest officials have warned the villagers to be more vigilant during nighttime and have promised to increase patrols to avoid similar incidents in the future. The villagers are now assessing the damage and seeking support for repairs.
