Karpagam Deemed University Holds Bicycle Rally on World Bicycle Day

Karpagam Deemed University organized a bicycle rally to highlight the health benefits of bicycling, marking World Bicycle Day 2024. Dr. B. Venkatachalapathy inaugurated the event.


Coimbatore: In a significant event that combined health consciousness with environmental advocacy, the Department of Biotechnology at Karpagam Deemed University organized a bicycle rally to celebrate World Bicycle Day 2024. Dr. B. Venkatachalapathy, Vice Chancellor of the university, inaugurated the rally in the presence of academic and administrative staff, including the Registrar and various Deans.



The event saw enthusiastic participation from both professors and students of the biotechnology department. The rally emphasized the dual benefits of cycling, promoting not only physical health but also environmental sustainability. Participants cycled through predetermined routes across the campus, demonstrating their support for greener transport alternatives.

The rally aimed to create awareness about the advantages of using bicycles regularly, reducing dependency on motor vehicles which contribute to urban air pollution. Such initiatives highlight the university’s commitment to fostering a culture of health and sustainability among its community members.
