Medical Team Treats Ailing Elephant Near Maruthamalai, Coimbatore

On May 30, a medical team treated an ailing female elephant near Maruthamalai, Coimbatore, while accompanied by her calf, as discovered by forest officials during patrol.


Coimbatore: In the foothills of Maruthamalai, Coimbatore, forest officials on patrol encountered distress sounds leading them to a female elephant with her calf on May 30. Upon closer investigation, it was evident that the female elephant was in weak health while the calf stood anxiously by her side.



Acting under the direction of the District Forest Officer, a combined team of Coimbatore forest workers and veterinarians swiftly arrived at the scene to administer necessary treatments. They provided the elephants with fruits and continue to monitor their health closely.



Additionally, special care is being given to the distressed calf, ensuring it receives adequate nutrition as part of the ongoing supervision.
