The Coimbatore Ponds Protection Association, led by coordinator Manikandan, plans to plant 5,000 saplings in Pillaiyarpuram on June 1, aiming to enrich the environment for World Environment Day.
Coimbatore: In a recent video announcement, the coordinator of the Coimbatore Ponds Protection Association, Manikandan, has declared the commencement of the rainy season as an opportune time for a new tree plantation initiative. Under the control of the Forest Department, an expansive 27-acre plot in the Pillaiyarpuram area, part of the Madukkarai forest range, has been prepared for this purpose. With permissions secured from the forestry authorities, the land has been conditioned to support the new saplings.
Marking World Environment Day, the event scheduled for June 1st will see the planting of 5,000 tree saplings in Pillaiyarpuram. Members of the public are encouraged to participate in this green initiative. People can bring tools like soil cutters, although arrangements will be made on site for those without tools. Manikandan invites all who are interested in contributing to the cause to join hands in this important environmental effort.
