In a bid to retrieve all encroached reserve sites, the Coimbatore City Corporation along with officials from Town Planning Department are conducting continued intensive drives for the past six months at all five zones in the city.
Today officials retrieved close to 0.79 cents of land worth Rs. 7.37 crores at the west and central zones. The team also uprooted all Seemai Karuvelam (Prosopis julifora) trees grown at the reserved site and cleaned the entire premise.
At Ward:45, Nallampalayam Road at Trisquare Tara Group House Layout, Sanganoor the team of officials led by Dr. K. Vijayakarthikeyan, CCMC Commissioner retrieved 31.56 cents of land worth 1.37 crore. And, at the central zone, in ward:18, Veerakeralam, 47 cents of land worth Rs. 6 crores were taken into possession.
Name boards indicating ownership of land with Corporation and warning for trespassers were installed at both the retrieved sites.
