Enthusiasts Gather at Valankulam Lake to View and Photograph Pelicans

Bird enthusiasts crowd Valankulam Lake in Coimbatore to observe and photograph migrating pelicans. The seasonal migration attracts various photographers and general public.

Coimbatore: As the summer season ends and pre-monsoon rains begin, many birds migrate to more temperate climates. Currently, due to the cooler weather in the Coimbatore and Nilgiris areas, pelicans have been migrating in large numbers.

Accordingly, Valankulam Lake in Coimbatore has seen a significant number of pelicans making it their temporary habitat.

This has attracted a large number of bird enthusiasts to the area on May 19, where many were seen capturing the scenic visits with their cameras. Professional photographers and hobbyists alike brought out their advanced equipment to capture the splendid scenes.

In addition to bird watchers, locals engaging in evening walks and motorists in the area have also taken keen interest in observing these pelicans. The lake not only sees migratory pelicans but also other domestic birds like herons and storks, drawing keen interest from a wide audience.
