Dharapuram Hit by Strong Rainfall, Affects Daily Life of Residents

Heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms affected the daily life in Dharapuram and surrounding areas such as Bus Stand, Udumalai Road, and Pollachi Road, causing severe disruptions during the evening hours.

Tirupur: Heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms disrupted daily life across Dharapuram and its surrounding areas on Tuesday evening.

The intense weather affected regions including Bus Stand, Udumalai Road, Pollachi Road, Chinna Kadai Street, Palani Road, Alangiyam Road, Manakkadavu, Govindapuram, Kalipalaiyam, and Varappalaiyam. Starting in the afternoon, these areas observed cloudy skies, which later turned into a heavy downpour by 5 PM.

As the rain intensified, streets got flooded, significantly affecting the commute of residents returning home from work. The sudden weather shift also resulted in a cooler evening, bringing some relief to the locals, particularly farmers who welcomed the change.

Further impacts included flooded streets in areas like Amaravathi Roundana and the lower regions, making it difficult for vehicular movement.

The rainfall continued heavily until around 2 AM, adding to the woes but was greeted positively by the agricultural community.
