Heavy Rainfall Hits Tirupur Following Yellow Alert by Meteorological Centre

Following a yellow alert by the Meteorological Centre, heavy rains have been battering Tirupur city and surrounding areas, causing waterlogged streets and disrupting normal life.

Tirupur: Subsequent to a yellow alert issued by the Meteorological Centre, Tirupur has been experiencing heavy rainfall today. Prior to this, the region faced intense summer heat with only sporadic light rains. The forecast made on 17th indicated heavy downpour which began today, providing a relief from the prevailing heat.

From the early hours, the sky turned cloudy, absolutely reducing the sunlight and cooling the atmosphere. Post-noon, thunderous clouds gathered and heavy rain started pouring down. Key regions such as Perumanallur Road, Kangayam Road, Dharapuram Road, and Mangalam Road have been deeply impacted by the rains.

The streets in these areas are flooded, causing major difficulties for vehicle commuters, particularly for those on two-wheelers. Additionally, the heavy rain has significantly affected vendors on the roadside, reducing foot traffic and thereby impacting businesses. Despite the inconveniences caused to motorists, the rainfall has brought a sense of joy among the public, especially as it provides a break from the recent oppressive heat.
