A meeting was convened at the District Collectorate to discuss on the prevailing drought situation and also futuristic plans that are to be carried out in the district to withstand such drought periods in the future.
This comprehensive meeting was chaired by Commissioner of Revenue Administration K. Sathyagopal. Top officials from various departments including Corporation, Revenue, PWD, Forestry and Animal Husbandry attended the meeting.
Commissioner of Revenue Administration K. Sathyagopal advised the District Collector to closely monitor the drought situation and initiate immediate action to address the emerging water shortage issues.
All the heads of rural, urban and panchayats were advised to ensure adequate transit of water supply to their areas and make necessary additional arrangements in areas which are experiencing severe shortage. Deepening of existing Corporation bore wells and digging of new bore wells was also discussed during the meet.
Commissioner of Revenue Administration also stressed on the preemptive measures to be taken to manage such tough situations in the future. He also advised the concerned officials to commence de-silting at all water bodies and strengthen the fringes of the bunds, as rejuvenation of lakes will help in rain water harvest
'The city administration should initiate strict action on people who indulge in drawing water directly from the common pipelines through motors' he said.
The senior officials of animal husbandry and agricultural departments were asked to work hand in hand for producing fodder for the animals under the animal husbandry department.
