Coimbatore Woman Seeks Protection from Youth Gang Involved in Ganja Selling

Veeralakshmi from Singanallur, Coimbatore, has submitted a petition for protection after being threatened by a local youth gang engaged in ganja selling and extortion.

Coimbatore: Veeralakshmi, a resident of S.I.H.S. Colony, Singanallur in Coimbatore, along with her family, has sought protection through a petition submitted to the city's Commissioner of Police's office on May 14. Veeralakshmi and her two sons have been living under threat after a group of youths involved in selling ganja near her home have been causing disruptions and have threatened them repeatedly.

The problem escalated when Veeralakshmi's sons were accosted and extorted for money several months ago by these youths, leading to a physical altercation. Upon lodging a complaint in April at the Singanallur Police Station, the situation worsened as the gang resorted to intimidation and threats. Recently, the gang has been observed surveying her home, armed with weapons, raising alarms for the safety of Veeralakshmi and her family.

Given the severity of the threats and the ongoing struggle with the gang, Veeralakshmi has been compelled to seek formal protection to secure the welfare of her family. The local authorities have been urged to take immediate action to address the situation and ensure their safety.
