'Kongu Members Networking' aims to provide real-time solutions for retailers of Kongu Region.

The Retailers Association of India (RAI) in association with PSG Institute of Management and PSG College of Technology today hosted the 'Kongu Members Networking'.



The Kongu Members Networking aims to create a platform for all retail stakeholders of Kongu region. The real-time challenges faced by the retailers, business growth and development among other issues will be dealt in this meet. Winning in Retail,Technology in Retail, Branding and Growth were some of the topics which were addressed by eminent people of the Kongu region, who are also entrepreneurs. 

Dr.R.Nandagopal, Director of PSG Institute of Management in his address said that " Retail sector is the fastest growing industry globally. Contributing to nearly 10% to the nation's Gross Domestic Product and economic development. The retail industry has been providing employment opportunity to over 35 million people. 

It's a positive sign for the retail market, as many local brands continue to set their foot in global markets and new start ups emerge every day. And, we are sure that the association of RAI and PSG Institutes will create meaningful opportunities for the youngsters and this collaboration will inspire more number of youngsters to take up entrepreneurship. The day-long session will be a great platform for aspiring youngsters and start ups'.



B.Sounderrajan, Chairman of Suguna Poultry Farm shared that "Today's topic, 'Winning in Retail' though challenging is a very interesting topic. Retail sector is the final destination of the product to the market. Be it a street vendor, distributor, manufacturer, the end product lands up in the hands of the retailer. 

The retail segment has proved to be the largest employer in the country. Though 90% of the industry is fragmented, its getting slowly organized. Sustainability in the retail industry depends on branding the product. Branding plays a pivotal role in retail business'. 

The inaugural was followed by panel discussion by The Promoters of Chennai Silks, Hasbro Clothing, Nuts and Spices, Lakshmi Ceramics and Cosmos Sports followed by a Session on Technology in Retail Mr. Ganesh Subramaniam, Founder Stylumia (Former Head of MYNTRA) and  Branding for Growth Senthil Natarajan of Kovai Pazhamudhir Nilayam.

Various eminent people from the retail industry like K.R.Premnath, Joint MD of Coimbatore Shri Jewellers, Dr.N.Balu, Director of Cosmos Sports LLP, Lawrence Fernandes, Director Retail Learning, Retailers Association of India and many more businessmen and start ups were part of this event.
