Protest in Coimbatore Against 'Savukku' Shankar's Comments on Working Women

Today in Coimbatore, National Federation of Indian Women members protested against 'Savukku' Shankar for demeaning comments about working women.


Coimbatore: A significant protest was organized today, May 10, 2024, by members of the National Federation of Indian Women in Coimbatore against YouTube personality 'Savukku' Shankar for his derogatory remarks towards women employed in government services, including police force. The protest took place near the South Tahsildar Office at 5 PM.



Led by District President J. Kala, the demonstration saw active participation from District Secretary Baby, member Shanti Chandran, former District President M. Nirmala, Vigneswari, Madhukkarai Eswari, Periyanayakkanpalayam Saradhamani, and Rajeswari among others. Over a hundred women joined in to express their disapproval and call for stringent action against Shankar.



Participants criticized Shankar's continuous derogatory commentary about women. They demanded that the Tamil Nadu government take severe measures against him to ensure such behavior is curtailed.
