Teaching Award Recipient C.M. Manikkam passes away; Donates Organs Posthumously in Coimbatore

Award-winning teacher C.M. Manikkam, passed away due to health issues in Coimbatore, donates organs posthumously as per his earlier pledge to medical institutions.


Coimbatore: C.M. Manikkam, a highly respected teacher who was a recipient of the prestigious teaching award, passed away this morning (May 10, 2024) in Ward 69, Ramalingam Colony, Coimbatore, due to deteriorating health conditions. Over 25 years ago, he pledged to donate his body for medical purposes, a commitment that was honored today.

His eyes were donated to Aravind Eye Hospital, and his skin to Ganga Hospital, immediately following his death. Furthermore, as per his wishes, his body was donated to Coimbatore Government Hospital for medical research, helping to advance medical science and education in the city.

This selfless act of organ donation by C.M. Manikkam underscores the impact one individual can have on the community, exemplifying a legacy of giving that transcends his lifetime.
