Waterlogging on Newly Constructed Flyover in Periyanayakkanpalayam Raises Concerns

Recent rains in Periyanayakkanpalayam, Coimbatore, have resulted in waterlogging on a newly built flyover valued at Rs. 115 crores, leading to vehicular distress and potential accident risks.


Coimbatore: After a prolonged dry spell, Periyanayakkanpalayam in Coimbatore district witnessed significant rainfall last night on May 8. The recent downpour, however, has led to severe waterlogging on a newly constructed flyover in the area, reportedly built at a cost of Rs. 115 crore. The stagnant water on the flyover poses a significant threat as there is no adequate drainage system in place to allow the water to recede.



This has caused considerable difficulty for commuters traveling over the flyover today, May 9. The waterlogging has not only slowed down traffic but also increased the risk of accidents. Concerned drivers and local residents are urgently calling for immediate action to address the issue.

Local authorities are being urged to rectify the situation by implementing effective drainage solutions to prevent future occurrences of such events. The safety of commuters and the functionality of significant infrastructure investments like this flyover are at stake.
