City traffic police collected fines of Rs 3,000 from motorists for not wearing helmet

The traffic police is acting tough on motorists who fail to wear a helmet while they are riding their two-wheelers. A source from the traffic police department shares with us that the traffic police team is conducting surprise checks in multiple locations in our city.

During such checks motorists who are caught red-handed without a helmet are fined. “First time offenders are asked to pay a fine of rupees 100 and if the individual is caught for not wearing a helmet while riding his or her two-wheeler for the second time, we collect a fine of rupees 300 and third time offenders for the same reason can expect their driving licence to be cancelled.” Navaneethan, SI, West said.

A source from the traffic police department shares with us that yesterday alone at Milk Company, fines of rupees 3,000 were collected from motorists who were caught without wearing a helmet. This source said that this drive will continue for many more days, in various parts in our city.
